All About Diamonds

30 jewels, 25 thousand diamonds and 650 carat; designers from Namibia, Botswana and South Africa took part in the competition Shining Light that was held by the De Beers company, focusing on the theme "connection". These 30 multi-faceted works were presented in the exhibition All About Diamonds in the Diamond museum, Ramat Gan.

When the designers thought about "connection" they had both traditional Africa and industrialization of today in mind, as well as both intimacy of a family and intense urban life. These thought provoking junctions were coming into play in the design of the exhibition. The conceptual complexity of the works was kept by placing a thicket of anodized aluminum rods covered with black dye, which were positioned diagonally one on top of the other and tied up with metal cables. The almost chaotic way in which they are arranged echoes a tribal environment while the materials, colorfulness, projection screens and the adjustable labels that were hung amongst them reflect on the technological environment in which we live. The rods stop before each display window and continue inside of it as an inseparable part of the positioning. The unusual jewelry stand-out and connect to the viewer also by screening the photos in 3D while the tension built around the theme of the connection assumes its place.
